Now we will try to understand the tattvas of the anubhava–mayi bhava-sarira Vrajavasis. We shall try to learn what Sri Rupa Gosvami has said according to tattva.
In practicing nama-sankirtana, the Vrajavasis have one condition: in order to do hari-bhajana there is no consideration of class, creed, or where you take birth, but you must be under the shelter of Sri Guru and Vaisnavas. In what way should you be under shelter? You must be under the shelter of sandhini-sakti, Baladeva Prabhu; and you must be under the guidance of the suddha-vrajavasis. Your future will always be safe and secure if you take their pure shelter; you will not face any troubles.
The Vrajavasis always hide their moods, keeping the rasa in their hearts very secret and hidden; that is why they are called gopis, gupta abhahitra. Especially those gopis who are very new, who are sadhana-siddha, they hide everything. We must not speak about our bhajana to others. The Vrajadevis are so powerful that even just a particle of the dust from their lotus feet can grant all perfection. Uma, Rama, Satya, Saci, Candra and Rukmini all desire the foot-dust of the Vraja gopis. Also Brahma, Siva, Suka, Narada, Bhisma – all these great personalities want a particle of dust from the lotus feet of the gopis. Their foot-dust has so much sakti and is infused with their special moods.
yat-kiṅkarīṣu bahuśaḥ khalu kāku-vāṇī
nityaṁ parasya puruṣasya śikhaṇḍa-mauleḥ
tasyāḥ kadā rasa-nidher vṛṣabhānu-jāyās
O Rādhikā! The Supreme Enjoyer who wears a crown of peacock feathers, falls at the feet of Your maidservants and propitiates them with many humble and grief-stricken words to be allowed entrance into Your kuñja [where both of You engage in playful amorous pastimes]. Let me become just one stick in the broom used by Your sakhis to clean the kunja of that ocean of rasa, the daughter of Vṛṣabhānu Mahārāja. [GVP translation]
The Vrajadevis are the manifestations of svarupa-sakti, Sri Radha, who embodies the highest culmination of all devotional moods. Therefore the high moods of svarupa-sakti’s expansions, the gopis, are also not so easy to understand. These moods are never manifested openly before everyone.
Durga, Kali, Candi, Bairabhi and all the other demigoddesses, immerse everyone in their bahiranga-śakti, in maya, illusion, giving only mundane moods, jada-sakti, jada-rasa, which is very ordinary and not helpful for the soul. But the Vraja-devis, who are they? Their moods are transcendental, of the soul, and are so deep, secret and hidden that even Krsna Himself does not understand the nature of the Vraja-devis’ moods. The seemingly joyous moods of jada-rasa coming from bahiranga-śakti are very transient and shallow, and will always fade in richness, eventually growing sour; yet the eternally blissful moods of vraja-bhakti-rasa coming from antaranga-sakti are ever-fresh and transcendentally tasteful, and only increase in their splendor more and more. There are different types of moods among the gopis considering if they are sva-paksa gopis, vi-paksa, tatastha, suhrd, or sama-sneha.
The gopis speak to Krsna in various ways, by different signals, and no one can understand this language except the gopis themselves and Krsna. Krsna is waking from His sleep in Nandagaon. As soon as He comes out from His house, He sees there is a rangoli outside the door. This art of rangoli does not only belong to South India. There is a rule in Vraja that one’s house should be made clean and then rangoli should be drawn, a transcendental rangoli. Rangoli is made from different colored powders in very beautiful patterns. When a sadhaka wakes up in the morning, he should think how Krsna has darsana of this beautiful rangoli.
The vraja-gopis make rangoli outside each of their homes and when Krsna comes out from His house and sees the different rangoli patterns, He is able to know which forests He will go to that day. So many messages are hidden within the rangoli design. Krsna can understand, “Oh, I see – today I shall go to this forest. I shall eat this prasadam. I shall wear this tilaka and decoration. I shall dress in these clothes. I see where I shall meet with the gopis and what kind of program we will enjoy.” Everything is determined just by this rangoli drawn outside Nanda Bhavana. The gopis have made everything clear.
Also when Krsna comes outside in the morning, He sees how the Vraja-devis have already come and completely cleaned Nanda Bhavana and decorated it with many flowers. He sees that they have already cooked so nicely. Many preparations have been arranged. And He sees how Radharani is again preparing to cook and how everything is ready for Her service – the subjis (vegetables) are cut and washed, and there are many shining silver and golden pots, and it is all so beautiful.
In Nanda Bhavana there are many doors that lead to secret, hidden alcoves. Krsna understands everything, all tattva-vicara and secret messages, and the sva-paksa gopis they also understand. But the vi-paksa gopis cannot understand anything; neither can the tatastha-gopis. One who takes shelter of sad-guru and of the Vrajavasis, especially the Vraja-devis and the followers of the Vraja-devis, will have this vraja-bhava manifest in their heart. You must take shelter of the Vraja-devis, of the gopis, because you cannot attain Krsna without gopi-bhava—gopi-bhava-vina-na-paya-kṛṣṇake—Nanda-nandana is not made truly happy by any other bhava; no other bhava can control Him. In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta he has written in the first chapter of Ādi-khanda, ei tina ṭhākura gauḍīyāke kariyāchena ātmasāt e tinera caraṇa vandoṅ, tine mora nātha, These three Deities of Vṛndāvana [Sri Madana-mohana, Sri Govinda and Sri Gopīnātha] have absorbed the heart and soul of the Gaudīya Vaiṣṇavas [followers of Lord Caitanya]. I worship Their lotus feet, for They are the Lords of my heart.” If you want to meet Bhagavan Syamasundara Krsna, if you want to make Him happy, then you should become a Gaudiya. What is the meaning of Gaudiya? One who follows Gaudi, Srimati Radhika Herself.
Srimati Radharani – She is Gauri, Syama, Gorocana Gauri. Srila Rupa Gosvami has written thousands of names of Radharani, just like Gauranga Mahaprabhu has thousands of names. What is sadhana? Sadhana means that you remember these names, do kirtana of these names – then automatically you will remember the form, qualities and pastimes of Radharani, Mahaprabhu, and Krsna. They will manifest in your heart. As children we go to school and we learn material science. We learn history, biology, geometry, math, grammar, and so many other subjects in school. But if we want to enter into this line of vraja-bhakti, we must learn these names of the Vraja-devis. We must learn these names of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Krsna, and also we must learn of Their forms, qualities and pastimes. If we become qualified in this material world, we get a certificate. But if we become qualified in remembering these names, then we get vraja-bhava, not anything less. But which name should we chant? All the names don’t have the same power.
We should chant these names of Krsna that the Vrajavasis chant. In Rupa Gosvami’s Krsna-namastaka, he has written eight slokas all about the glories of Krsna-nama. And Sanatana Gosvami has said, “Sri Krsna Gopala Murari Hare Mukunda Govinda Nanda Kisora Krsna, He Sri Yasoda-tanaya vasudha ….” If you want to chant and do kirtana then sing these names that the Vraja-devis have sung: “Yasomati-nandana vraja vara nagara, Gokula ranjana kana, Gopi parana-dhana, Madana-manohara, Kaliya damana vidhana.” Chant those names that have vraja-rasa and that are related with Vraja. Just chant and remember those names. The sakti of Vraja is present in these names. If you chant other names, where will you go? The sakti of Vraja is not present in those names. Vraja-bhakti, vraja-bhava, gopi-bhava will not enter our hearts if we chant other names. Therefore take shelter of Vraja, of the gopis. Take shelter of the residents of Gokula, and take shelter of Gopala, who is Vraja-disa, Vrajesa, Naresa, who is Gopi-jana-vallabha Syamasundara – take shelter of Him.
Especially take shelter of sandhini-sakti Baladeva Prabhu, of Sri Guru who has relation with Vraja; he is a vraja-anuragi Vaisnava. If you take shelter of other gurus, then you may go to Vaikuntha or Ayodhya, but you will not be able to enter into Vraja. Krsna has said “This prema of aisvarya does not satisfy Me.” By chanting other names of Bhagavan not related to Vraja you will get this aisvarya-mayi prema, but will you or Bhagavan be happy by this prema? Bhagavan says, “No. Wherever the five types of liberation are present, wherever there is opulence, I’m not so happy. I don’t like this. If you want to make Me happy, then take shelter of Baladeva Prabhu and take shelter of the tad-anuragi jananugami Vaisnavas. By taking shelter like this you will attain gopi-bhava.” Krsna is the hero of Vraja, Vraja-nayaka; He is Vrajesa. To make Him happy you need vraja-bhava. Without vraja-bhava you cannot do anything. We must aspire for this vraja-bhava.
Syamasundara does not belong only to Nanda Baba, he belongs to everyone of Vraja. He saves and rescues everyone. Similarly, Nanda Baba is not just the father of Krsna, He is the father of everyone of Vraja; he helps everyone. So Nanda Baba took all the Vrajavasis and organized one assembly in bhara-bhaitak, assembly hall. He thought “How can we make Krsna happy? And how can we make the Vrajavasis happy?” In Vraja everyone thinks, “How can we serve Krsna more and more?” All Vrajavasis think like this. Vatsalya-rasa is greater than sakhya-rasa, and madhurya-rasa is greater than even vatsalya. But they all think, “How can we serve Krsna? How can we serve the Vraja-vasis?” So therefore Krsna does not think about staying for even one hour in only one house in Vraja. As soon as morning breaks, He goes with all the cows and calves from one forest to another, and He does not stay long in any one house, but He goes and meets with all the Vrajavasis and He tastes their bhava as He enters their different homes. He takes those things that they offer with love, and he takes with so much happiness. Krsna never said, “Close the door, ring the bell, put an asana and offer bhoga to Me.” Rather He says, “Yasoda-maiya, I will not eat.”
And Nanda Baba says, “Nandera nirdeśe bhaise giri-vara-dhārī/ baladeva-saha sakhā baise sāri sāri.” Krsna will not even eat before the sakhas eat. The sakhas eat first and feed their remnants to Krsna. They don’t say, “No Krsna, we will not give you our remnants.” They are giving their moods, their prema to Krsna. He only tastes this. The Vrajavasis serve Vraja-nayaka Sri Krsna with their moods all the time. And what moods do the Vrajavasis and Vraja-devis have?
Srila Rupa Gosvami gives the identification of the vraja-anuragi Vaisnavas. Where do we find this anuraga? Only with the raganugas, those floating in the raga-sindhu, the ocean of spontaneous and natural love, raga, who are under the guidance of the raganugas and the ragatmikas. Who has this priti? Vraja-priti? Where did raga come from, and how will it increase? Who has this in their heart? This prema-kabandhara?, festival of prema, is making everyone dance. So who is the witness to this?
Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami and Raghunatha dasa Gosvami. Mahaprabhu feeds the hearts of Raghunnatha bhatta Gosvami and Raghunatha das Gosvami with this vraja-rasa, this vraja-anuraga; and also Yadunandana, Balarama Acarya, Advaita Acarya, Haridasa Thakura, and everyone who was in the house at Sapta-gram. After Mahaprabhu took sannyasa, He came to Santipura and met with Raghunatha dasa Gosvami. Many millions of devotees were there; Mahaprabhu was dancing in ecstacy in harinama-sankirtana. Seeing Mahaprabhu’s all attractive dancing form, Raghunatha dasa became overwhelmed. He said, “Mahaprabhu is making everyone full of prema-rasa, full of vraja-rasa, vraja-bhava. There is no consideration of old or young here, everyone is receiving this mood.” That prema cannot even be estimated. Everyone was drowning in this prema.
Raghunnatha dasa Gosvami took the help of Advaita Acarya to come near to Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who became so happy to see Raghunatha dasa Gosvami. He said, “O Raghunatha, don’t exhibit false renunciation. Don’t exhibit monkey-like renunciation. Also don’t showcase your renunciation to others. In this way, inside, you be strong, but outside act like an ordinary materialist. Go to your house,” Mahaprabhu directed Raghunatha das Gosvami.
Have great respect for the guru-varga and pray for their mercy. They are all ragatmika-janas, they have anuraga, this wealth of anuraga. Pray to them. Don’t show monkey-like renunciation. The gopis wear clothes and decorate themselves, and are always anxious to render service to Krsna. They did not say, “No, we are Babajis, we will not serve.” They did not say, “We are renouncing everything. Now we will go and live in a cave.” No. At all times within their hearts they are drowning in krsna-rasa. They decorate themselves in sixteen ways for Krsna’s happiness. They offer fifty-six items for Krsna. Everything they do is only for Krsna’s happiness. They don’t think about their own happiness or comfort. Even before Krsna goes out for cow-herding from one forest to another, the gopis have already entered those forests and have made so many arrangements to facilitate His sweet pastimes. They go to Bhandiravana and make many preparations there, and they go to Kamyavana near Seshayi-Visnu and make nice sweets there even before Krsna comes cow-herding there. They make everything ready even before Krsna comes. So what moods do they have?
Once, after Krsna had just chastised the demon snake Kaliya, and Nanda Baba and all the Vrajavasis had celebrated, the gopis came to Nanda Gaon to meet with Nanda Baba. The Vrajavasis told Nanda Baba, “O Nanda Maharaja, O Nanda Baba, your son Kanhaiya is so weak now. Just see. There are so many scratches on His body from the snake Kaliya. He’s already black and now there are so many scratches on Him. Don’t you think about His welfare? You must do something about Krsna Kanhaiya, He’s your only son.”
Nanda Baba started smiling and said, “Why should I think about Him? All of you are thinking about Him.”
“No you must think about Krsna Kanhaiya. You must do something for Him. You always say that Narayana is present in Krsna, but no, Krsna is your son. Take care or else you’ll have to suffer tomorrow. Look after your son.”
Nanda Baba said, “My father, Parjanya Rsi, will think about everyone’s welfare.”
Parjanya Rsi told everyone, “Siva Thakura will not listen to my prayers alone. All of us should go and pray to him. Siva Thakura has so many snakes. There are snakes all over his body. Ananta-sesa Padmanabha Himself takes rest on these snakes. Since Krsna’s body is filled with the poison of the snake Kaliya, we should ask Siva Thakura how to cure Krsna.”
Nanda Baba and all Vrajavasis then went to inquire from Nandisvara Mahadeva in Nandagaon. They prayed to the siva–linga there and Siva Thakura manifested. He said, “O Baba, I am Bolanatha. I am Nila Kanthesvara – I drank poison when the ocean was churned. At that time, there was no one who could free me from that poison. I was suffering. But Brahma-ji, out of his causeless mercy, gave me Bhagavan’s caranamrta from his kamandalu and when that caranamrta came on my head and entered my matted dreadlocks, I became so happy and peaceful. Then all the poison in my body went away. I was free. But my mind was still restless. So I prayed ‘Where can I go to find peace?’ Brahma, adi-guru, told me, ‘Bolanatha, I am now going to Vraja, you should also come. I stay there in Varsana and I always collect the foot-dust of the vraja-gopis and with this decorate my four heads. I continuously bathe myself with their foot-dust and since then my intelligence has become pure. I am happy now. Please, you also come to Vraja.’ I did not refuse this invitation. Thus I came to Vraja as Nandisvara Parvata in Nandagaon and now I bath myself with the foot-dust of all the Vrajavasis. I’m now very happy. By staying here I receive such wonderful darsanas of Krsna’s pastimes and my heart is full of bliss.”
“So what can you do for Kanhaiya?” The Vrajavasis asked Siva Thakura. “Please tell us, how can this poison go out?”
Siva Thakura said, “You must ask Bhagavati Pournamasi. She is the kuladevi, the guru of all of Vraja. She will surely help you.”
Upon requesting Yogamaya Pournamasi-devi’s help, she said, “If there is any purely chaste gopi in Vraja, bring a pot with a thousand holes to her. Have this chaste gopi fill that pot with the water of the Manasi-Ganga and perform abhisheka of Krsna; then Krsna will become healthy. But there is one condition: when this gopi collects the water from Ganga, not even one drop must spill out. If any water is lost through any of the thousand holes, we will know she is not the most chaste gopi, and the abhiseka will not be successful.”
“So, who is most chaste in Vraja?” The Vrajavasis thought among themselves. Jatila and Kutila said, “We are the most chaste ladies in Vraja. There is no one more chaste than us. Everyone else only brings great shame to their families, but we bring only honor to our families.” Jatila boasted, “Definitely my daughter and myself are the most chaste ladies in Vraja.”
Jatila and Kutila confidently took the pot with a thousand holes and hurried to collect water from Manasi-Ganga, but not even one drop stayed inside the pot. Again all the Vrajavasis began to think, “Who is most chaste?” At that time, Bhagavati Yogamaya said, “Vrsabhanu-nandini, the darling daughter of Vrsabhanu Maharaja, is the most chaste gopi in all of Vraja. There is no one more chaste than Her.” On Pournamasi’s request, Vrsabhanu-nandini Radharani filled the pot containing a thousand holes with the water of the Manasi-Ganga and effortlessly brought it before Krsna without spilling one single drop. Srimati Radharani affectionately bathed Krsna with that water, and with the many loving moods of Her heart. For one entire month She continued this abhiseka.
This abhiseka began on Caitya-purnima in the month of Vaisakha. Water is also showered on salagrama and Tulsi devi for one month in connection with this pastime of Krsna being bathed by Srimati Radhika.
Although Radharani’s abhiseka of Krsna was very soothing for Him, Yogamaya gave more advice, “This abhiseka is only a part of the cure for Krsna,” she informed the Vrajavasis. “More is needed for Krsna to be free of this poison from Kaliya. This vraja-raja, this dust of Vraja, is so valuable and powerful because actually it is the most precious foot-dust of the gopis, gopi-candana. The pure foot-dust of these chaste and honest gopis has all power. If this gopi-candana is smeared all over Krsna’s body, He will become so happy. The poison of Kaliya that has entered His body will be completely cooled and removed. So, if you want to heal Krsna fully, then you must apply gopi–candana on Him from head to toe,” Pournamasi-devi encouraged.
“And who should apply this chandan? Only the manjaris and the sakhis, the most chaste ladies, must apply candana on Krsna’s body,” Pournamasi concluded.
Hearing Pournamasi’s words, the Vrajadevis eagerly pasted sandalwood, brought this from their homes and applied candana all over Krsna’s body. Again Krsna soon became very strong and beautiful, and appeared like the God of Vraja.
Krsna wants candana. He does not want jewels or ornaments. Therefore, in this month, until Snana-yatra, our Madhavendra Puri and our Sriman Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and even the followers of other sampradayas, apply candana to Krsna. This candana is applied until Jyesta-purnima, that is Snana-yatra, two weeks before Ratha-yatra, because now the temperature of summer is very hot! It is not just the heat of the summer season, it is the heat produced from Radha-Krsna’s viraha, separation. During these days of summer’s intensity, everything becomes so dry and overheated that not all pastimes of meeting can manifest, and thus the fire of separation burns high in Vraja. Therefore during this time Krsna goes to Pavana-sarovara, Prema-sarovara, Chandra-sarovara, Mana-sarovara, Kusoma-sarovara, and so many different places where there are big, shady trees, and He rests trying to cool down. At that time, many of the sakhas apply candana on Krsna and on Giriraja silas.
The sakhas realized that Nanda Baba’s courtyard has such wonderful sandalwood trees, and that by pasting this sandalwood and applying even one drop of this candana paste to Krsna, then He becomes very cool. The sakhas then declared to one another, “We will also put candana on Krsna to cool Him and protect Him.” They told Krsna, “If you wear this candana, then brahma–sakti will enter inside Your heart. You will be protected.”
If you go to visit the Babajis of the Nimbadittya sampradaya you will see that they all cover their bodies in candana. Why? They say that if they wear candana, then no maya will enter their bodies, that the heat of maya will be extinguished. Candana has brahma-sakti, this higher spiritual power, and protects one from the lower power of maya-sakti. What did Caitanya Mahaprabhu say? He said, “Those who do not wear tilaka, who do not apply gopi–candana on their forehead – their head is like a graveyard. Those who do not have candana on their bodies will be destroyed by the three types of klesas (miseries): adhidaivika (suffering caused by the demigods and material nature), adhibautika (suffering caused by others), and adhyatmika (suffering caused by one’s own mind and body).” Sri Govinda dasa Kaviraja and Srila Rupa Gosvami have sung such wonderful kirtanas on the glories of candana – Jai jai sundara nanda kumara, saurabha sankarta vrndavana tata vihita vasanta vihara / abhinava kutmala guccha samujjvala kuncita kuntala bhara, pranayi janerita vandana [candanda] sahakrta curnita vara ghana sara. – All glories to You, O beautiful son of Nanda! You perform springtime pastimes on the river banks of Vrndavana, which is full of fragrance. Your mass of curling locks is adorned brilliantly with a bunch of fresh blossoms. You are decorated with colored powders, mixed with camphor, [and also candana] that are thrown by your beloveds.
But how did this gopi–candana manifest? Where was it born? What is the history of candana?
When Krsna would bathe with His cowherd boys in the Yamuna River, the gopis would also come to the Yamuna and play in the water. At that time, Yamuna-devi received the foot-dust remnants of the Vraja-devis as they sported in her waters. Yamuna-devi inquired, “O Prabhu, Krsna, where shall I keep this precious foot-dust of the gopis and Yourself?”
Krsna told her, “Listen, this foot-dust of the Vrajavasis, especially of the Vraja-devis, has so much power. It must be safely stored. Yamuna, you should carry this treasure all the way to the ocean and deliver it to Varuna-deva for him to store in a very special corner.
Our Varuna-deva, the deity of the ocean, Samudra-deva, is also called Ratnakara, which means “he who is full of jewels.” The Himalayas gave so many precious jewels and minerals to Varunadeva. He stores so many presents within the depths of his waters. Everything valuable and treasured is given to Ratnakara for safekeeping. Varunadeva is very busy. He makes silver separate from gold, and gold separate from water. He sorts, separates and stores so many important resources – minerals, rain, trees, jewels, even bodies are brought to him. He is like one very strong filter. His factory is running day and night. Laksmi-devi Herself (the goddess of fortune), is the darling daughter of Varunadeva. All the holy rivers flow into the ocean, and he is thus known as tirtha-raja (King of tirthas). Many rsis and maharsi do sadhana and tapsya and bathe in the ocean, further enhancing his glories. And most amazingly Mahaprabhu Himself would bathe daily at svarga–dvara in the ocean at Jagannatha Puri depositing his precious foot-dust and mahabhava there.
So this greatest treasure of the Earth, this carana–raja (foot-dust) of the gopis, was sent to the ocean for Varunadeva to save. In those places where the ocean god deposited this special dust, sandalwood trees grew.
Later Krsna said, “I, along with any of My expansions, will not accept anything without candana and tulasi.” Dei tulasi tila, deha samarpinu, daya jani na chadabi maya. Without this candana, Krsna does not like anything. He wants this foot-dust of Vraja. He left Vraja and went to Dvaraka, but there He also yearned for this foot-dust of the gopis of Vraja. Therefore, our Madhvacarya started wearing this tilaka made from gopi–candana. And Mahaprabhu Himself further extolled the glories this gopi–candana. If this gopi–candana is applied on the body then the body will never become unfavorable for you, it will become very favorable for your bhajana and bhava. If your body is decorated with candana it will give you bhava–siddhi. It will make your body full of rasa.
Take shelter of the raganugas, of raga-sindhu, the ocean of raga (spontaneous loving devotion) and of the ragatmatmika-jana. By the power of their foot-dust and shelter one will very easily give up the false enjoyment of this world and attain taste in vraja-bhakti-rasa. “In this way, there is no need to do markat–vairagya (false, monkey-like renunciation),” Mahaprabhu told to Raghunatha dasa Gosvami. He gave similar instructions to Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami also. “Don’t show your bhajana to others; hide your moods like the gopis.”
In Varanasi, Kasi, Mahaprabhu met with Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami and made him drink this anuraga–rasa. He first met Gopala Bhatta Gosvami in Sri Rangam during the four months of caturmasya. Gopala Bhatta Gosvami served Mahaprabhu with so much love and affection and Mahaprabhu made him drink this vraja-rasa. When Mahaprabhu went to Rama-keli He first met Sri Rupa and Sanatana Gosvamis. Then again Mahaprabhu met with Sanatana Gosvami in Varanasi for two months, and later in Puri for ten months, He instructed him again. Mahaprabhu instructed Rupa Gosvami in Prayaga for ten days. During each of His meetings with all the Gosvamis, He infused them with this vraja–anuraga-rasa, and therefore those who are ragatmika, and those who are raganuga, all those who try for vraja-anuraga, take shelter of their lotus feet.
During His pastimes, Mahaprabhu manifested a two-handed form, a four-handed form, and even a six and eight-handed form, but Mahaprabhu wanted ultimately to establish the glories of Vraja. “This kingdom should belong to Vraja-raja Krsna. Everything should belong to the Vraja-devis and Krsna. Everything should be full of anuraga. Everything should have raga for Radha and Krsna.” This desire was prominent within the heart of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and for this reason the guru-varga manifested such beautiful understandings of vraja-anuraga. They have mercifully shared the store from their own hearts. The sadhaka who takes shelter of the guru-varga of Vraja, who takes shelter of the Vraja-devis, definitely attains eternal auspiciousness.
