In Vraja-maṇḍala, Subala and Śrīdāma are priya-narma sakhās. Kṛṣṇa is with Yaśodā and Nanda. They are of vātsalya-rasa. And then superior to them are the gopīs. Among the gopīs, the souls coming to this world, are of Rūpa Gosvāmī’s group. So for this mood of mañjarī, we should try to follow Rūpa Mañjarī and Rati Mañjarī. They are always serving Śrīmatī Rādhikā. They are not so attached. If Kṛṣṇa calls, they will run away to Śrīmatī Rādhikā. So attachment should be there, asakti. After that, when asakti matures, then we go to Goloka Vṛndāvana. Either from Subala, Śrīdāma, either from Nanda and Yaśodā, or either from the gopīs and then it is called viśuddha-sattva. After this viśuddha-sattva, when it is matured, then Kṛṣṇa sometimes gives darśana with His parikaras. And all kinds of anarthas, ego, and everything, totally go away. Only some smell of it remains.
After this, the soul is matured, he goes to where Kṛṣṇa’s pastime is going on in this world. That is in prakaṭa-līlā. And he will go in the womb of a gopī. Then he will come as a sakhā or as a sakhī. And then in the association of those friends or Yaśodā and Nanda or gopīs, he will be purified and then they will serve Kṛṣṇa and then it will be prema. When prema is matured then sneha will come. When sneha matures then māna will come. Very tasteful! Very tasteful for Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs. Sometimes Kṛṣṇa does māna and sometimes Śrīmatī Rādhikā does—each other. After that it becomes [inaudible], and after that rāga, and after that anurāga, when the whole soul is covered in rāga. Then after that is mahābhāva. After that is ruddha and adhiruddha. So Rādhā’s pranaya controls Kṛṣṇa. “I want to know this.” If pranaya is there, then Kṛṣṇa will be tasted, otherwise not. So Kṛṣṇa wanted this. “I taste Rādhikā and Rādhikā tastes Me, but Rādhikā’s tasting of Me is more high. Rādhikā becomes mad but I cannot.” How is Her prema? How He prayed. The four kinds of mādhurī, or sweetness of Kṛṣṇa. So sweet when He plays on the vaṁśī. Kṛṣṇa is so beautiful. Rāma is not so much as He. His parikaras, His associates, His līlās are all so madhu, sweet. Only Rādhikā can taste, no other. So high-class. How does Śrīmatī Rādhikā taste this? And what are the results of tasting? What kind of ānanda, bliss? And what experiences? Kṛṣṇa has this desire. In Kṛṣṇa’s pastime He could not taste all this. So now He was wanting to taste all these things. He was told that if you will take the heart and mood and color of Śrīmatī Rādhikā then You can understand. If You will be in Rādhikā’s mood; a soul cannot take the mood of Rādhikā. He can take some of the moods of only Rati and Rūpa Mañjarī. They cannot take, they are not capable, they are not qualified to take anything from Lalitā, Vishaka, Rādhikā. If we want topmost prema, only Rūpa Mañjarī can give. So He wanted to taste all these things so He wanted a tutor who will teach Him? Who are the tutors? Lalitā and Vishaka. So He heard that Vishaka had come in the shape of Rāya Rāmānanda. He at once proceeded on the bank of the Godāvarī River and there Mahāprabhu askes questions and Rāya Rāmānanda replies. A creeper has no avalamba, meaning support, to go up. He will fall on the earth. He cannot go an inch. But if there is a very thick tree, a very big tree, the creeper can go up to the top. Kṛṣṇa is that top and that tree, and Rādhikā and Rūpa Mañjarī are also those trees and if we, the soul, take the help of that tree of Rādhikā, Kṛṣṇa and Rūpa Mañjarī, then we can realize what mahābhāva is. He himself does not have that thing, but he can go up and taste that.
He will taste all these things. A sakhā can go up to anurāga. Vātsalya can go up to anurāga. But if we are a dāsī of Rūpa Mañjarī, she has mahābhāva, so we will taste that if we are qualified to go there and serve Rūpa Mañjarī. Then we can taste that mahābhāva. Otherwise he will not taste if he is not taking shelter of that tree. By himself, a creeper cannot go up. There should be some support. So jīva, like us, are very weak. But his nature is that if he takes shelter of that tree Kṛṣṇa, he can go up to Goloka Vṛndāvana and he can taste that prema phala. If he will be with Rādhikā and is serving Śrīmatī Rādhikā and Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa are meeting and They are feeling so much pleasure, and he is attached to Śrīmatī Rādhikā, then what Rādhikā will taste, he will taste. Understand? I know that you are all conditioned, but hearing and hearing for so many births, you can then taste.
